Smiljana received bachelor diploma in Chemical Engineering and diploma of Master in Material Science from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, Serbia. Her research was based on developing star-shaped polyesters with different number and lengths of Ɛ-caprolactone branches, in order to create material suitable for biomedical application, as drug carrier. During her master studies, she was working as quality assurance engineer in West pharmaceutical company, Serbia. Smiljana is a PhD student with Prof. Sally-Ann Cryan from the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in collaboration with Prof Heise at RCSI. Her project is aiming at the development of polypeptide materials as medical devices for therapeutic delivery.
