Jessica completed her BSc in Biomedical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal (Portugal), where she specialized in health informatics. Driven by her passion for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, she pursued her MSc in Biomedical Engineering at High Institute of Engineering of Lisbon (Portugal). During this period, she joined the Moroni Lab at the Department of Complex Tissue Regeneration, MERLN (Maastricht, The Netherlands) to perform an internship where her research focused on the synthesis, characterization and application of heparin functionalized fibrin hydrogels. In 2018, Jessica joined the Heise group at RCSI (Dublin, Ireland) as a PhD student in order to research the development of novel polypeptide bioinks for 3D printing of bioactive scaffolds for tissue engineering applications.
