Rafał obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. His research concerned the synthesis of new, ionic polymers based on choline-containing units and their use as potential drug carriers. After that, he also worked in the team of prof. Kamil Kamiński at the Institute of Physics of the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, where he was involved in the synthesis of various functionalized poly(meth)acrylates. In 2020, he received an individual MSCA fellowship, thanks to which he began working in the team of Prof. Andreas Heise, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where he deals with the synthesis and research of the properties of interpenetrating polymer networks.
